Incident Report
08/11/2010 - Station 293 responded to 2 calls toady. Around 1500 station 293 was dispatched to assist the police with a high tension wire down. 293 Utility responded and assisted with traffic until Duquense Light arrived on scene. During the wire down call station 293 was also alerted to assist 171 (Homestead) with a lock out detail. Station 293 was cancelled before leaving the station. | Training Welcome to West Mifflin #1 VFC training page. Here you will get to see first hand how our firefighter learn new skills and practice how to properly do their job. Firefighters must train regularly so that they can protect property and save lives. Without proper training firefighters run the risk of seriously getting hurt or killed. Below you will see photos and descriptions from training activities at our station.
June 03 Port Authority Bus Training Members of Homeville participated in a special training session with Port Authority on how to properly handle bus fires and bus crashes. They also had a chance to see the new hybrid busses that are in use and how to safely and properly handle special types of busses.

Hazardous Materials Training Members of Homeville participated in an annual 8hr Hazmat Operations refresher class
May 15th& 16th Special Vehicle Rescue Memeers of West MIfflin # 1 particiated in a 16hr Special Vehicle Rescue Class (SVR) This class is provided to help firefighters learn safe practices and tacktics to handle recue calls that involbe larger vehicles
Basic Vehicle Rescue 2009 (BVR) Eight members from West Mifflin #1 participated in the fall class of Basic Vehicle Resuce (BVR). BVR is a class provided by the state to show firefighters how to safely and properly rescue a victim from a trapped car. The class consist of 48 hrs of class room and hands on training and also consist of a State and County exam. |
